Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports
Northeast Wisconsin Chapter
by: John Pearson
On July 7th
the Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports held their
annual Brown County
Invitational at the De Pere Sportsmen’s Club. The 4-H program offers
annual training and competitive events throughout the state. To learn
more about this outstanding youth program Chapter representative Cal
Ort, Jeff Champeau and John Pearson joined the festivities and watched
over 60 youths, from around the state, competed in trap, archery and 22
long rifle accuracy events.
Statewide youth
membership in the Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports organization exceeds
7000.
The purpose of the 4-H program is youth education in the safe
handing of firearms and developing an appreciation for wildlife. This
is accomplished by offering annual training and competitive shooting
events throughout the state. To assist in this endeavor, each year 4-H
trains over 200 adults to help mentor and coach our future hunters and
competitive shooters.
Annually the program
sponsors a Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports Team which recently returned
from attending the National 4-H Invitational, held in South Dakota,
where they had won many medals. During the competition the team
proudly displayed the Northeast Wisconsin Chapter’s logo in recognition
of our financial support of their program.
The Northeast
Wisconsin Chapter is proud to sponsor the
